Growth Ways convention today

International speakers have started arriving in Kathmandu to participate in the Growth Ways, media and entrepreneurship convention to be held in the capital city on Thursday.

Renowned columnist and novelist Shobhaa De arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday and other speakers are scheduled to land in the capital early on Thursday.

Shripad Kulkarni, managing director of Vizeum India Dentsu Aegus Network, Kartikeya Sharma founder of iTV Media and Anurag Batra, chairman and editor-in-chief of Business World, among others will shed light on media and entrepreneurship at the convention.

The event, which is organized by Nepal Republic Media, is presented by ZTE Smart Phone and Soaltee Crowne Plaza is the official hotel.

Pro Wrestling League Set to Get Bigger and Better

The second edition of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) promises to be bigger and better than the inaugural one with the world’s top grapplers set to feature in the one month-long event beginning in December. The auction for the event is likely to take place November 15.

PWL-2 was unveiled here Thursday with several top-notch wrestlers of the world, including India’s Sakshi Malik, walking the ramp wearing designer clothes. Sakshi said the league has helped her in becoming a top wrestler and she is looking forward to second season.

“The league gives an opportunity to young and talented Indians to face the world’s top wrestlers and improve their game. I am certainly looking forward to the tournament as I get to learn a lot,” Sakshi, who was wearing a Rohit Bal creation, said.

Besides Sakshi, three other Olympic medallists Yogeshwar Dutt, Sofia Mattson of Sweden and Mariya Stadnik of Azerbaijan along with CWG medallist Yana Rattigan, Geeta Phogat, Babita Kumari walked the ramp for designers like Bal, JJ Vallaya, Ashish Soni and Rohit Gandhi.

London Olympics bronze medallist Yogeshwar said while it is unlikely for him to take part in the upcoming league as his wedding is scheduled in January next year, he is still trying to work things out and play a few matches.

“I want to play in the League. I am trying to find out some time so that I can be a part of PWL-2,” said Yogeshwar.

Asked if Pakistani wrestlers should be allowed to take part in the League, Yogeshwar said, “They should not be a part of the league till the situation between the two countries improves.”

He also informed that since Sakshi’s bronze medal feat at Rio, women have become interested in wrestling and the PWL will be a great platform to showcase their talent. “This is the event where you pit yourself against the best. If you win, you are instantly noticed,” stated Yogeshwar. PTI

Top Stars for Pro Wrestling League Season 2

Three-time World champion Adeline Gray of USA, Rio Olympics silver medallist Mariya Stadnik of Azerbaijan, and bronze medallist Sofia Mattson of Sweden will be among the big foreign wrestlers in the second edition of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) starting from December 15.

Multiple European medallist Yana Rattigan of Ukraine and World bronze medallists Odunayo of Nigeria and Vasilisa Marzulik will be the other attractions of the league.

All of them participated in the Rio Olympics.

Welcoming the big international stars to the league, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh hoped more such wrestlers would be seen in action this season.
